The 2026 #Bricklayer5000 set a new world record with 4,354 Sellable bricks laid in a single day.
At the 2026 Brick the World #Bricklayer5000, a new world record was set when Garret Shafer (WA) laid 4,404 bricks—4,354 of them sellable—in eight hours, establishing a new benchmark for the craft. The record-setting performance took place on Tuesday, January 20th, in Las Vegas, Nevada, leading into the Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 during World of Concrete.
Laying 4,354 sellable bricks in a single workday equates to lifting tens of thousands of pounds—an extraordinary physical and technical achievement made possible through years of experience, precision, and muscle memory.
The #Bricklayer5000 format is designed to test endurance, efficiency, and craftsmanship at the highest level. The event consisted of eight one-hour rounds, each followed by a 10-minute break. Final totals were subject to official deductions for workmanship and accuracy, ensuring the record reflects not just speed, but true trade excellence.
Brick the World #Bricklayer5000 was created not only as a competition, but as a mission—to showcase the efficiency of masonry and inspire the next generation of skilled craftspeople. As the construction industry faces a growing shortage of trained labor, the event aims to engage architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, and—most importantly—future masons by demonstrating what is possible in the trade.
A sincere thank you to all sponsors, volunteers, hoddies, and supporters who made the event possible. This record-setting day would not have happened without the strength of the masonry community.
The bar has been raised. We can’t wait to see who sets the next record.
